EARTHRISE

A meditation on the famous Earthrise photo - the first image of the whole earth ever taken by humans. The photograph has been called “the most influential environmental photograph ever taken”, and is often credited as marking the beginning of the environmental movement.

The film features Apollo 8 Astronaut Jim Lovell, and is compsoed entirely of footage from the Apollo missions sourced from the NASA archives. It was made as a trailer for Spaceship Earth, the new season of The Elephant, a podcast that investigates possible solutions to the greatest challenge currently facing humanity: climate change.
